Developed by an experienced clinical psychologist, the MyPsyDiary application is a wellness tool designed to assist people with monitoring and improving their mental health. The MyPsyDiary application features a password entry system to access its diary contents and other mood monitoring and emotion improvement strategies. This password is set up at the discretion of the user. The developer has no access to the user’s chosen password, diary entries or mood data. While the MyPsyDiary tool has been designed by the developer to store diary entries and mood data on the user’s device only, improving security of their data, it is the responsibility of the registered user to safeguard their password. It is also the sole discretion of the user to determine whether to opt in to open sourced cloud storage. The use, login, and therefore security of the user’s device’s data uploaded in or to open sourced cloud storage is solely the responsibility of the user. The MyPsyDiary corporation holds no responsibility for the security of the user’s data contained within the applications.
As a further caution, the MyPsyDiary application does not replace psychological treatment. It is a wellness tool that can help to improve a person’s mental health. It is considered best practice to use this application under the guidance or support of a qualified mental health professional. The MyPsyDiary tool does use various well-established psychological strategies to help improve emotions such as sadness, anger, and anxiety. It also aims to help to promote more positive states of happiness, relaxation, and excitement.
As MyPsyDiary goes along, the responses provided by the application are customised by the user to their own specifications, interests, and preferences. This is set up in the next few screens where the user is instructed to upload favourite photos and songs from their device, and enter contact details of their preferred support options. This helps the MyPsyDiary prompt these chosen items to the user to help regulate their emotions if feeling sad, anxious or angry. It also suggests regular upload of these items when the user is feeling happy, relaxed or excited to help them feel more positive.
The MyPsyDiary application does invite the user to communicate their feedback about the application a fortnight after initial download or update, which then enables the user's device and therefore their email address to communicate these thoughts. The user is in no way obligated to provide such feedback and may decline the request to provide feedback to the developer. If feedback is received, it will help inform future updates about the MyPsyDiary application. It provides the user the opportunity to communicate any ideas or updates to the developer (via the user's replied email address). If feedback is provided, the user may then be able to receive generic email notifications about use or update of MyPsyDiary via email newsletter.
